Why the name bSetFree

Hi, I’m John Gilbertson. I offer a Personal Counselling Service called bSetFree Counselling specializing in helping people who suffer from various forms of limiting beliefs.

Most of us are born with everything we need to succeed.

You might have heard the saying, “We are born equal to become unequal.”
We have incredible potential to enjoy life, but then life happens. Depending on the environment we are born into, we might misinterpret the many messages we receive in our early years, either accidentally or deliberately from our caregivers.

When we are born, our memory bank is almost empty. However, we start accumulating information even before birth. We experience a range of sensations, like our mother’s heartbeat and the sound of trickling water, and we associate these experiences with feeling either good or uncomfortable.

Early Experiences and Their Impact

Consider a one-day-old baby. Initially, the baby is comfortably wrapped and quiet. When undressed for the first bath, the baby cries louder but quickly settles once submerged in tepid water. This happens because, as Maris Peer states in her book Tell Yourself a Better Lie, “Your mind is hardwired to resist what is unfamiliar and return to what is familiar.” The baby finds comfort in the familiar sensation of floating in warm fluid, similar to the amniotic fluid before birth.

This idea explains why houses near water often sell for high prices and why a nice bath is so relaxing. However, these positive associations can be overwritten by negative experiences, such as a shipwreck or near-drowning event, which can change one’s reaction to water.

Life’s Challenges and Potential

Life doesn’t always run smoothly. After birth, we continue to accumulate experiences that shape our self-perception and place in society. However, this evaluation is often not based on our true potential. I help individuals with significant personality issues, such as anxiety or sadness, to identify and treat the root cause. It’s about discovering the truth of how early experiences have shaped your thinking and reprogramming your response with a true assessment of who you really are.

The Principle of Truth Counselling

The name bSetFree COUNSELLING is based on a scriptural principle from John 8:32, which says, “And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” By uncovering and acknowledging where, when, and how our anxiety was formed, you can be restored to a better emotional state.

A Poem About Truth Counselling

bSetFree Counselling, novel and bright,
No marathon sessions, swift as light.
Peering deep, unravelling what’s amiss,
In just one or two sessions, find your bliss.
Renew your spirit, your zest for life,
Free from the grip of past strife.
Release the chains of old, be anew,
Embrace the dawn of the real you.
Let truth, like a gentle balm, soothe,
Reprogram the scars, make smooth.
For in the truth of your soul’s hue,
Lies the key to living life anew.
